Impressionism seems to have a great draw to me, trying to capture the nature, the motion, light and shadow in a still painting/pastel work can prove difficult, especially with not a lot of practice with a certain media, like pastels. However, this take on a classic Yorkshire scene proved successful to me. The viewer can really feel the open space and the movement of the wind around them. Capturing the light and shadow proved tricky, but by making the land in the background lighter allows the viewer to feel they were under some cloud cover.
I have many fond memories going to Ilkley Moor, Cow & Calf and taking in the the view while eating a hotdog or burger from the Italian guys cafe/stand, good times...
